From the 1950s to the 1970s, many people came to Pasir Ris Beach to go water skiing. Pasir Ris Hotel was also a popular location for events and different cultural gatherings. The government created Pasir Ris New Community, Aloha Loyang resorts, and the Costa Sands near the finish of the 1980s.
Pasir Ris has become split into 7 sub-zones and addresses a place of approximately 1,533 ha. The Downtown East and NTUC activity centre are two popular regional hangouts.
In order to develop the region, the undeveloped places were later allocated for recreational, industrial, and residential use. It had been imagined as a coastal residential region with waterfront recreational facilities. Apartments were built by the Housing and Progress Board (HDB), and the first people moved in in 1988. By March 2015, the town’s population had developed to 111,000 HDB residents.
The 2014 East Region Master Strategy needed the development of a local cycling route network to improve sustainable transportation.
