Pasir Ris is just a development area on Singapore’s western outskirts. It is bounded by Sungei Serangoon, Top Changi Path North, Tampines Expressway, and Serangoon Harbour. Previously, the region was known for their kampongs and villages with few developments, in addition to a well known water skiing location in the 1950s.
Pasir Ris is a Malay term that means “bright mud,” and it identifies the stretch of bright sandy shores that range Singapore’s northeastern coast. The title is thought to be a shortening of Pasir Iris, with Pasir implying “sand” and Iris implying “to shred.” The title was presented with after a tiger presumably killed a headman’s son in 1852.
Kampong Bahru, Kampong Pasir Ris, and numerous Chinese kampongs along Elias Street were on the list of kampongs which used to occupy the location in the first days. This area was well-known for the plantation estates, including Loh Lam Property, Singapore United Plantations, Thai Min Estate, and Hun Yeang Estate.
From the 1950s to the 1970s, many individuals stumbled on Pasir Ris Beach to go water skiing. Pasir Ris Lodge was also a favorite place for events and other cultural gatherings. The us government created Pasir Ris New Town, Aloha Loyang resorts, and the Costa Sands near the finish of the 1980s.
